Sharing Our Heritage

Halstead Heritage Museum

The doors of Halstead Heritage Museum will be closing for the final time in it’s current location at the end of November 2017. Work is already well under way preparing our new site at the Queen’s Hall, Halstead so that we can open in February 2018.

As a result of the Townsford Mill complex, which includes Mill House, having been sold, Halstead Town Council and the Halstead Heritage Museum have had to re-locate to new premises. Thanks to the on-going support of the Town Council, the Museum has been allocated the old kitchen area in The Queen’s Hall which is currently undergoing a complete refurbishment. History Society members under the direction of our tireless museum coordinator, Jim Davis, are working hard to create a new museum space which should enable us to display more of the thousands of artefacts we currently have in storage.

2018 will be an exciting year for the society and we look forward to welcoming visitors old and new. Whether you are interested in finding a photograph showing Halstead & district in the past, you are researching your family history, or you are just curious about the history of the area, why not come and visit us either on a Sunday or a Wednesday afternoon between 1.30 and 4.00.
